What’s the difference between ITRON and T-Engine?
This question came up recently on the TE@Onghu Developer Forum/ BBS and it seemed that this hasn’t really been adequately answered in any place. I had posted an answer to the forum and thought that it would be good to copy the ideas here also so that it serves as a reference for people searching exactly that question. In this article, I’m expanding the question slightly and will try to explain the difference between T-Engine, ITRON and T-Kernel.

Future Directions with the T-Kernel
The T-Engine Forum has released a number of different kernels for embedded systems, ranging from kernels running on 8/ 16-bit processors all the way to kernels for multi-core systems. This article looks at some of the new things happening with the T-Kernel.

The µT-Kernel is an implementation of the T-Kernel for small-scale embedded systems. In March 2007, the T-Engine Forum released the specifications and reference source code for the μT-Kernel. In this article, perhaps the first article in English about the μT-Kernel, I will introduce the μT-Kernel and highlight some of its design decisions and features while also discussing its availability and the main points of difference from the T-Kernel.
